Celebrating america's 250th birthday
with a study of the us constitution
In collaboration with the National Constitution Center, Plenty is leading a community wide study of the United States Constitution, and we're excited to announce that we've received additional funding for more related programs.
What will this look like?
We are recruiting 20-25 leaders from our community to form cohorts to guide through this study. Each cohort will have 10-12 participants from schools, church groups, friendships, businesses, and more to gain a better understanding of our Constitution.
What else can I expect?
It will depend on your cohort leader. They get to choose how they lead the group. However, you can expect games, some books or essays, a lot of discussions, and likely snacks. In September, all of the cohorts will have the opportunity to gather and socialize at Plenty Bookshop.The final event will be an evening with all 250 participants. Jeffrey Rosen and Yuvall Levin will also be joining us that evening.
How will this benefit me?
Participating in this study will give you new insight and deeper understanding of our Founding Fathers’ intent in writing the Constitution and how it has changed and evolved. You will also make new friends and have some fun along the way.
But how much will this cost me?
It is FREE to participate! Depending on how your leader wants to structure class, you may be asked to buy a book or some other materials, but any costs will be minimal. We want people from all walks of life to join us in this study.

What other Constitutional related events are happening?
We are also very thrilled to announce that Plenty has received grant funding to launch three programs centered around this:
First, "Franklin Circles In Motion": For those unfamiliar with Franklin Circles, these are the original "self and community improvement groups" that Ben Franklin started. We get to create three circles of community members that will utilize Franklin’s thirteen virtues to identify personal actions and enhance community. Many of our staff at Plenty have participated in a Franklin Circle in years past, and we're excited to really bring this to life!
Second, we will extend the Constitution study through partnering with more schools , bringing important concepts to 250 students in an accessible way, through books, interactive learning materials, and engaging programming.
Third, we will host College Community Dinners. We love being part of a college town, and are excited to serve this group in our community. We will host family-style dinners for students, bringing along visiting scholars who will help us to see and understand Tennessee’s history and its role in the development of our country.
